Reclaiming Our Truth

In times past women were revered in each stage of their lives, Maiden, Mother and Crone. Each stage was marked by celebration and honor. The Crone was recognized for her wisdom and having the respect of her years. She was decorated in a ceremony where the other Crones in the tribe welcomed her into the circle and she is presented as a wise one to be honored and cherished for the treasure she is.

Women today are finding that this ceremony and celebration of the Crone is a reclaiming of their power and worth.

What does a Croning Ceremony look like?

A Croning ceremony can be simple or extravagant. Usually there is a gathering of other crones, who welcome the new Crone into their circle. This can be done literally or figuratively, with a solemn ceremony or a light hearted one. Singing or chanting, a symbol of initiation such as a cloak, garland or crown. A symbol of passage, entering through a curtain or threshold. Drumming or rattling to welcome and celebrate the new Crone into the circle and aid in the ceremony.  For some it is time to make new commitments or vows to one's self.

With a lifetime of achievements behind you, and decades more to look forward to. The word Crone can now be a word of power for you to celebrate! It has been earned.
